A 62-year-old man presented with generalized peritonitis. At emergency laparotomy, 50 cm of oedematous haemorrhagic jejunum was seen, with diffuse mesenteric oedema. Resection was performed with end-to-end jejuno-ileostomy, and multiple venous thrombi were visible in the specimen. The diagnosis was confirmed by histology.
