A 55-year-old woman presented with left sided continuous facial pain and a painful throat radiating to the left peri-auricular region. A CT revealed bilateral elongation of the styloid process (arrows). These findings, in combination with the presenting symptoms, indicate the Eagle syndrome. Symptoms are attributed to impingement of neural and/or vascular structures which are located in close proximity to the styloid process, such as the glossopharyngeal, vagus, accessory and hypoglossal nerves and the internal carotid artery.
