The diagnosis of this is renal cell carcinoma with atrial involvement.
Transluminal tumour propagation into the inferior vena cava occurs in 4 to 10% of patients undergoing surgery for renal cell carcinoma, and 14 to 39 % of these patients exhibit suprahepatic extension to the right atrium.
The patient underwent radical nefrectomy with removal of tumour thrombus from the inferior vena cava, hepatic veins and right atrium using cardiopulmonary bypass.
