Low-grade appendiceal mucinous neoplasm (LAMN). A 68-year-old woman presented with a painless mass in the right abdomen. At laparotomy, a large, intact appendix was found, without invasive characteristics or external mucinous deposits. It was resected with a 1-cm margin of normal caecum. Histological analysis showed a LAMN. LAMN is an uncommon diagnosis. It is divided into type I (disease confined to the lumen) and type II (mucin wall or periappendicular tissue, or perforation). Type I is considered benign; type II is a precursor of pseudomyxoma peritonei. The main treatment is resection.
