The patient has Peutz–Jeghers syndrome. Intussusception (left image) was caused by the jejunal polypsfound in this syndrome. Peutz–Jeghers syndrome is a rare autosomal dominant disorder in which there are multiple hamartomatous polyps in gastrointestinal tract, especially the jejunum, duodenum, stomach and, sometimes, the ileumand colon. Melanosis in the oral mucosa and lips, and even on skin, is part of the syndrome (right image). In addition,the patients have a propensity to develop several cancers, such as cancer of pancreas, liver, lungs or breast. Patients usually present in their early adulthood with intestinal obstruction due to intussusception.
