This is the endopelvic fascia. Several authors affirm that this is pararenal fascia of embryological orgin: the ureterohypogastric fascia. It comprises the ureter and the inferior hypogastric nerve. It has been used as an anatomical reference to access the lateral compartment of the pelvis for lymphadenectomy in rectal cancer, achieving free margins in women with gynaecological pelvic tumours and in urological surgery, in order to avoid nerve damage, and reduce the risk ofincontinence and sexual dysfunction.
