The portal vein graft had eroded through into the duodenum and was seen clearly on gastroscopy. At laparotomy, the peripheral end of the prosthesis was seen at pyloromyotomy and found still anastomosed to the portal vein. Since there was no sign of bleeding, the prosthesis was resected as completely as possible within the duodenum and the remnant was covered with mucosa. The patient’s postoperative course was uneventful.
