The complication to be aware of is a postoperative milk fistula. The illustration if of a breast abscess, demonstrated on breast ultrasound. Intraoperative drainage revealed thick, milky contents. Microbiology revealed MRSA, confirming the diagnosis of infected galactocoele. Repeated aspiration is the usual treatment for breast abscess, where possible; however, when signs, symptoms, and/or imaging reflect a more severe process, timely open incision and drainage is required. When intervening for infected galactocoele, the utmost care should be taken to visualize and ligate any visible ducts to avoid a milk fistula. This complication is distressing and difficult to treat, other than by cessation of breastfeeding.
