Cryptorchidism. The undescended right testis of the patient was located intra-abdominally. The diagnosis was confirmed by physical examination, which revealed a normally descended left testis, but a missing right testis. On questioning after surgery, the patient mentioned that his right testis had been missing since birth. It was assumed to have never developed as it was not found during exploratory surgery at the age of 18 months.
Because of the increased risk of developing a malignancy, the intra-abdominal right testis was removed during surgery. Histopathology revealed a carcinoma in situ germ cell tumour.
