The patient has a Marjolin’s ulcer, which is an eponym for an aggressive squamous cell carcinoma of the skin in a region of chronic inflammation or trauma due to burns, osteomyelitis, venous ulcers, pressure ulcers or radiation dermatitis. Named after the 18th-century French surgeon Jean-Nicolas Marjolin, these lesions were classically described for ulcers around a burn cicatrix. This patient underwent a margin-free resection and is disease-free at 3 years.
