Ileo-ileal (a) and ileo-cecal (b) intussusceptions caused by metastatic melanoma. Segmental ileal resection as well as a right hemicolectomy were performed and immunohistochemical analysis of the specimen were positive for Melan-A, establishing the diagnosis of metastatic melanoma. Of note, the patient had no history of melanoma or any other malignancy. While pediatric intussusceptions are usually idiopathic, an underlying cause is found in 80–90% of adult cases. Being both diagnostic and therapeutic, surgery constitutes the cornerstone of intussusceptions management in adults.
