Toothpick perforation mimicking appendicitis

A 52-year-old patient was admitted with suspected appendicitis. Diagnostic laparoscopy identified a toothpick perforation of the caecum. After removal of the toothpick the caecal pole was resected and he had an uneventful recovery. He remembered having a special dinner a few days before admission.
