Conclusion

Two different drug-eluting stents were compared in 465 patients with intermittent claudication due to superficial femoral or proximal popliteal artery disease. At twelve months, patency rates were similar for polymer-coated (86.8 per cent) and polymer-free stents (91 per cent). Adverse event rates and secondary revascularization procedures were similar.
