A randomized double blinded study to determine the effectiveness of utilizing intraperitoneal bupivacaine: does it reduce postoperative opioid use following laparoscopic appendectomy? Am J Surg 2019; 217: 479-482.

Conclusion

Instillation of bupivacaine at the end of the procedure reduced postoperative pain scores (mean 2.48 versus 3.8, P=0.014) and opiate use (mean 7.4mg versus 16.9mg, P=0.007).
