Conclusion

A total of 204 patients were included. Intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) was given for 30min either at time of surgery, or within 8 weeks afterwards. After 18 months, peritoneal disease-free survival (assessed by routine laparoscopy) was 81 per cent after HIPEC and 76 per cent in controls; P=0.28. Some 14 per cent of patients who had HIPEC had complications from it.
