Conclusion

Early results of this RCT that included 95 patients suggest the laparoscopic approach was associated with fewer postoperative complications (20 versus 46 per cent, P=0.007) and less pain for at least 48h (P=0.008). More patients in the laparoscopic group also completed their adjuvant chemotherapy: odds ratio 4.39, 95 per cent c.i. 1.63 to 11.8, P=0.003.
