Conclusion

In this study that included 104 procedures, perineal healing was not affected by mesh implantation (uncomplicated healing at 30 days 66 per cent with sutures and 63 per cent with mesh). After one year mesh reduced the rate of perineal hernia from 27 to 13 per cent, P=0.0316.
