Conclusion

The addition of cisplatin over gemcitabine alone improved median progression-free survival (8 vs. 5 months, P<0.001) and overall survival (11.7 vs. 8,1 months; hazard ratio 0.64, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.52 to 0.8, P<0.001) in this study that included 410 patients.
