Conclusion

This study examined 12 trials of 1820 patients. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy did not increase perioperative morbidity or mortality, but it did improve 3-year progression-free survival: odds ratio 1.85, 95 per cent confidence interval 1.39 to 2.46, P<0.0001.
