Conclusion

Eighty-four patients were enrolled. At interim analysis after 23 episodes of cellulitis, patients randomized to stockings had fewer episodes of cellulitis (hazard ratio 0.23, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.09 to 0.59, P=0.002) and fewer episodes of hospitalization for cellulitis (0.38, 0.09 to 1.59).
