Conclusion

Some 156 patients who had peptic ulcer bleeding whilst taking low-dose aspirin were randomly allocated to stop the aspirin or continue it together with oral pantoprazole. The rebleeding rate within 30 days was 10.3 per cent in the aspirin group, and 5.4 per cent in the no aspirin group, but overall mortality after eight weeks was reduced with aspirin: 1.3 vs. 12.9 per cent.
