Direct oral feeding following minimally invasive esophagectomy (NUTRIENT II trial). An international, multicenter, open-label randomized controlled trial. Ann Surg 2020; 271: 41-47
Published: 5th March 2020
Authors: Berkelmans GH, Fransen LFC, Dolmans-Zwartjes ACP, Kouwenhoven EA, van Det MJ, Nilsson M et al.
Some 132 patients were randomized to immediate oral feeding, or tube feeding for the first five days. Anastomotic leaks occurred in 18.5 and 16.4 per cent, respectively. Other complication rates and functional recovery were similar between the groups.Pubmed Link
