Conclusion

This updated meta-analysis included eleven trials. It cast doubt on the ability of aspirin to reduce all-cause mortality (relative risk: 0.93, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.8 to 1.1) and major cardiac and cerebral vascular events (1, 0.83 to 1.2).
