Conclusion

Over 12,000 individuals with coronary, cerebrovascular or peripheral vascular disease were included. The trial was stopped early because of lack of efficacy: after a median of 26 months adverse cardiovascular events occurred in 12.9 per cent of those on evacetrapib compared with 12.8 per cent on placebo.
