Conclusion

In this study that included 104 patients, those randomised to delayed surgery had fewer invasive interventions (mean 2.6 versus 4.4; mean difference 1.8, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.42 to 3.68), but severe complications and mortality rates were similar.
