Conclusion

This multicentre study included 706 procedures and explored whether gastric banding with suture fixation was helpful, compared to no fixation. Use of the gastro-gastric suture reduced the rate of re-intervention for band retrieval or repositioning at three years from 19.4 to 11.3 per cent, P=0.013.
