Conclusion

Of 6098 women treated with lapatinib, 1389 (35 per cent) developed an early rash. At median follow-up of 4.5 years, overall survival was significantly better in those who developed the rash: hazard ratio 0.63, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.48 to 0.82, P<0.001.
