Conclusion

The analysis included 733 groin wounds in six RCTs. Negative pressure wound therapy reduced the rate of surgical site infection (odds ratio 0.36, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.24 to 0.54, P<0.001), and was associated with less redo surgery (0.44, 0.22 to 0.88, P=0.02) and shorter hospital stay (P=0.01).
