Meta-analysis and trial sequential analysis of prophylactic negative pressure therapy for groin wounds in vascular surgery. J Vasc Surg 2019; 70: 1700–1710

Conclusion

The analysis included 733 groin wounds in six RCTs. Negative pressure wound therapy reduced the rate of surgical site infection (odds ratio 0.36, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.24 to 0.54, P<0.001), and was associated with less redo surgery (0.44, 0.22 to 0.88, P=0.02) and shorter hospital stay (P=0.01).
