Conclusion

Treatment and sham treatments were applied once a week for twelve weeks in the 227 patients included in the study. Fifty per cent reduction in episodes of faecal incontinence occurred in 39 (38 per cent) of patients in the active group and 32 (31 per cent) in controls (P=0.4).
