Conclusion

There were five RCTs including 792 patients. There was no significant difference in the rate of surgical site infection in patients who had negative pressure wound therapy compared to standard dressings: relative risk 0.56, 95 per cent c.i. 0.3 to 1.03,P= 0.64.
