Conclusion

Ten RCTs were included. The negative pressure dressing reduced surgical site infection to 11.6 from 16.7 per cent; relative risk 0.67, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.48 to 0.95, P=0.02. It did not affect deep infection, wound dehiscence or duration of hospital stay.
