Conclusion

Some 548 subjects with an aorta 3-5cm in diameter were followed for a mean of 2.5 years. The propranolol was poorly tolerated: 42 per cent stopped the active medication. Mean aneurysm growth rates were similar - 0.22cm/yr versus 0.26cm/yr with placebo,p=n.s.
