Conclusion

Median intravenous fluid intake was lower in the restricted (3.7 Li) than the liberal fluid group (6.1 Li) in this study of 3000 procedures. Acute kidney injury was reduced in the liberal fluid group (P<0.001), as was the rate of surgical site infection (P=0.02). Disability-free survival at one year was similar.
