Conclusion

The study that included 7470 patients compared aspirin alone with the combination of low-dose rivaroxaban 5 mg per day and aspirin. The combination reduced the risk of major cardiovascular events (hazard ratio 0.72, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.57 to 0.9, P=0.0047) and major vascular events including amputation (0.54, 0.35 to 0.82, P=0.0037), without increasing major bleeding.
