Conclusion

Eighty patients were included. More patients were still taking non-steroidal painkillers after seven days who had vessel sealing haemorrhoidectomy (88 versus 54 per cent, P=0.002). Postoperative complications, patient satisfaction, return to work and quality of life were similar.
