Conclusion

Both methods were effective: only one of 47 included patients developed recurrent early cancer (after endoscopic resection) at a median follow up of two years. Some 88 per cent of patients developed a stenosis after resection compared to 14 per cent after radiofrequency ablation (P<0.001); the former group required more endoscopic dilatations.
