Conclusion

This study that included 253 procedures was terminated early after interim analysis revealed higher major complication rates (including recurrence) with Surgisis Gold biological mesh than standard prosthetic mesh in both open (22.7 versus 9.8 per cent) and laparoscopic repairs (27.4 versus 10.9 per cent); P=0.013 overall.
