Conclusion

Use of robotic surgery did not reduce the rate of postoperative intra-abdominal infection in this study that included 241 patients: 6.2 per cent, versus 8.5 per cent in the laparoscopic surgery group (per protocol analysis). Other complications were more common in the laparoscopic group.
