Conclusion

After a minimum of two years, this study that included 450 patients showed local recurrence rates of 5.4 per cent after laparoscopic and 3.1 per cent after open surgery; disease-free survival 80 versus 82 per cent, respectively, and overall survival 94 versus 93 per cent. All outcomes are similar so far.
