Conclusion

This study included 12 RCTs. The risk of recurrence was greater after use of lightweight mesh (32/1571 procedures) than heavyweight (standard) mesh (13/1508 procedures), relative risk 2.21, 95 per cent confidence interval 1.14 to 4.31). There was no difference in pain or foreign body sensation.
