Conclusion

Using data from almost 19 thousand women, biphophonates were only of definite benefit in postmenopausal women. In this group they reduced bone recurrence (risk ratio 0.72, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.6 to 0.86, P=0.0002) and breast cancer mortality (0.82, 0.73 to 0.93, P=0.002).
