Conclusion

Some 2091 women with operable node positive breast cancer were enrolled. Dose-dense chemotherapy (every 2 weeks, instead of every 3 weeks) improved overall survival after median follow-up of seven years: 94 versus 89 per cent; P=0.001. Survival was unaffected by addition of fluorouracil to standard chemotherapy.
