Conclusion

Some 2135 women were enrolled in this study after breast-conserving surgery. After median follow-up of 36 months, accelerated radiotherapy increased the risk of adverse cosmetic outcomes as assessed by specialist nurses (29 versus 17 per cent; P<0.001) and toxicity (P<0.001).
