Conclusion

Some 375 patients were randomized in the trial. After one year, any groin pain was less common after laparoscopic hernia repair (20 .7 versus 33.2 per cent, P=0.007). Rates of severe groin pain at one year were similar: 2.1 versus 3.2 per cent, respectively.
