Conclusion

This study included 450 participants with at least 3 years of follow-up. In the early treatment group, there was a lower rate of ulcer recurrence (incidence rate ratio 0.658, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.48 to 0.898, P=0.003), and the intervention was 91.6 per cent likely to be cost effective at the willingness to pay threshold of £20,000.
