Conclusion

Some 267 patients were randomized to loose larvae, bagged larvae or standard hydrogel desloughing dressings. There was no difference between the two larval dressings. Time to ulcer healing was similar after larvae vs. hydrogel dressings: hazard ratio 1.13, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.76 to 1.68. Larvae did not improve ulcer pain, help eradicate MRSA or improve quality of life
