Conclusion

Sexual dysfunction was reported by 68 per cent of men after mesorectal excision alone, versus 79 per cent after additional lateral node dissection (P=0.37). The main risk factor for sexual dysfunction was increasing age (P=0.02) in this study that included 343 men.
