Conclusion

A total of 440 women aged under 56 years were included. The MRI scan changed the management plan in 18 per cent of women; in 15 percent the change was from breast conserving surgery to planned mastectomy. The reoperation rate was reduced from 15 to 5 per cent after MRI (P<0.001).
