Conclusion

This study included 815 patients treated either with standard radiotherapy or simple intensity-modulated radiotherapy. After five years, fewer patients who had the novel treatment had suboptimal overall cosmesis (odds ratio 0.68, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.48 to 0.96, P=0.027) and telangiectasia (0.58, 0.36 to 0.92, P=0.021).
