Conclusion

This study included 83,399 women followed for a median of 65 months. The medications reduced the rate of breast cancer during treatment, and for at least five years after, by 38 per cent: hazard ratio 0.62, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.56 to 0.69. The reduction decreased in years 5-10 after treatment. Thromboembolic complications were increased: odds ratio 1.73, 1.47 to 2.05.
